Indigenous Scholarship Program
The Pacific Business & Law Institute (PBLI) is Western Canada's largest independent conference organization and the leading national conference organization addressing First Nation, Métis and Inuit topics. We advertise our conferences nationally to the leadership of every First Nation, Métis and Inuit organization in the country, the resource sector, consultants and government.
About the Scholarship:
The purpose of PBLI's Indigenous Scholarship Program is to give back to Indigenous communities. Many of the Indigenous people who attend PBLI programs are elected and non-elected members of First Nation governments and other institutions. The vast majority of Indigenous people outside of government institutions, however, do not have the financial means to register and attend programs and forums. This sponsorship program is designed to make the education and networking opportunities at our conferences more accessible to Indigenous communities. PBLI will allocate one sponsored registration per program to anyone of First Nation, Inuit, or Métis Descent.
Objectives:
To provide an educational and experiential benefit to Indigenous individuals that empowers them to make a difference in their community's political and economic development.
To engage Indigenous individuals in the debate and discussion between their First Nation governments, Federal, Provincial and Municipal governments and the private sector.
To give Indigenous individuals some of the tools necessary to advance political causes both on and off reserves.
Application Process:
To apply, interested candidates must provide a one page letter with the following information:
how you would benefit from the sponsorship, and
how you will use your knowledge to contribute to the betterment of your community.
Reference letters are not required, but will be considered if submitted. Applications should be submitted to admin@pbli.com, Attention: Camille Israel. We recommend that applications be submitted four weeks before the program date.
Sponsorship covers the cost of the program registration fee and materials distributed at the program. It does not include travel, accommodation or other expenses incurred by the successful applicants.
The selection of successful applicants will be at PBLI's discretion. Successful applicants will be informed approximately three weeks prior to the program start date.
